Nyamira Girls’ High School came into being in 1967 as a single streamed Harambee School when the idea was hatched by the late Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and other elders. The school is located along the shores of Lake Victoria, in Nyamira village, Nyawita sub location, Bondo Township location. Maranda division. Bondo Sub-county, Siaya County. In 1971, the government took full control of the school. In 1972, the number of streams increased from one to three. In 2012 the school was registered as a five streamed school but the students’ population keeps increasing every year. It is one of the biggest girls’ school in Bondo Constituency/Sub-county.
